This Programme consists of 4 modules.
As this is a programme, each module is available to buy as a stand alone mini course. Below is a breakdown of each individual module.
Module 1: The Role Of Quality Assessment
Point Of Care Testing (POCT), also know as near-patient testing (NPT) for clozapine patients has been available for many years and is a service that is growing in popularity throughout most of the United Kingdom. However, the essential blood monitoring of patients taking clozapine is usually performed in non-hospital settings by non-laboratory healthcare workers who are not usually trained in laboratory quality control or assurance procedures. They therefore need a clear understanding of how to apply quality control procedures effectively to ensure patient safety.
Module 2: An Introduction To Phlebotomy
This module introduces the basics of phlebotomy, focusing on safe, person-centred practice. The module describes what good point-of-care phlebotomy looks like and how to ensure patient comfort, safety and accurate results throughout the process.
Module 3: Taking Capillary Samples
This module focuses on capillary sampling from a point of care perspective. It aims to support patient care by providing a comprehensive overview of when capillary sampling is appropriate, how it is performed and the key steps needed to achieve accurate and reliable test results without compromising patient comfort and safety.
Module 4: Taking Venous Samples
This module focuses on venous sampling from a point of care perspective. It aims to support patient care by providing a comprehensive overview of when venous sampling is appropriate, how it is performed and the key steps needed to achieve accurate and reliable test results without compromising patient comfort and safety.
